AAIS Committee

As per the Albanian Australian Islamic Society’s (AAIS) Articles of Association, which was drafted on 5th October 1963, the elected Committee Board is the ‘Governing Body’ of the AAIS.

The AAIS Committee Board is responsible for the management of all operations and it is solely driven to achieve the aims and objectives that are outlined in the AAIS Article of Association.

In 1997, the AAIS Committee Board embarked on a mission to create better communications with all its financial members and to introduce more community activities, learning programs and other social events for its financial members, as well as the broader community.

During this time, the AAIS Committee Board also endeavoured to establish better relations with other Islamic organisations by initiating and hosting the first meeting between all four (4) Albanian Islamic Societies in Victoria. Further to this, the AAIS Committee Board established better communications with the Islamic Council of Victoria and other Islamic Societies in and around the greater city of Melbourne.

In this period, the AAIS Committee Board also established better communications with local neighbours and Council.

In 2003, the AAIS Committee Board drafted an ambitious plan to raise the profile of the AAIS amongst Albanian Muslim communities that lived both interstate and overseas.

This goal was gradually achieved through a campaign that required regular promotions of AAIS activities via the AAIS website, email broadcasts, as well as organising both interstate and overseas visits with other Albanian Islamic orgaisations and people from Government.

The AAIS Committee Board is driven by the AAIS’s Mission Statement, which is derived from the AAIS’s Articles of Association (i.e. Aims and Objectives), and it encourages members of the Society to work together in preserving the identity of the Albanian Muslim community and promoting mutual understanding, harmony and cooperation among other communities in Australian.
